A NIGHT AT THE MET

The Met Gala left its mark on the first Monday in May and this year, as always, Michael Kors was fashionably front and center. Opening the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s new spring 2025 Costume Institute exhibition “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrating Black dandyism, this year’s fête featured the dress code “Tailored for You.” Michael arrived in style with his date for the evening—Grammy Award-winning musician Megan Thee Stallion—in addition to creating looks for actress and musician Suki Waterhouse, supermodel Ugbad Abdi, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, award-winning director, actor and musician Whitney White, and Harper’s Bazaar Editor-in-Chief Samira Nasr. Pristine tailoring, glittering crystals and meticulous hand embroidery stole the show as Michael and his guests celebrated the night in style.

MEGAN THEE STALLION

To create Megan Thee Stallion’s custom Michael Kors Collection floral lace gown, artisans spent 670 hours individually sewing over 75,000 crystals in three sizes by hand. She accompanied the look with an optic white faux fur coat complete with a white-and-silver sequin lining. For inspiration, Michael and Megan were intrigued by strong women like Josephine Baker and Eartha Kitt, whose approaches to fashion were full of swagger, drama and glamour.

SUKI WATERHOUSE

Michael Kors brand ambassador Suki Waterhouse attended the 2025 Met Gala in a custom tailored backless tuxedo vest with a column skirt featuring a 12-foot train. The designer explained that he wanted to subvert elements of classically tailored men’s wear, turning a tailcoat into a sultry vest, for example, while the matching slit skirt recalls the vents in a men’s tailored jacket.

UGBAD ABDI

Supermodel Ugbad Abdi’s custom charcoal mélange flannel suit featured glittering silver pinstripes, which took artisans over 600 hours to hand embroider using more than 80,000 crystals. In an ode to André Leon Talley, the model’s look also featured a custom pewter-and-silver paisley metallic brocade cape with a silver faux fur trim.

BRANDEN JACOBS-JENKINS

& WHITNEY WHITE

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins—a member of the Met Gala host committee—wore a black wool broadcloth reefer coat with hand-embroidered sequin fringed sleeves from Michael Kors Collection, with a black wool broadcloth vest and wool serge tuxedo trousers, both from Michael Kors Mens. Award-winning director, actor and musician Whitney White made her way to the 2025 Met Gala wearing a Michael Kors Collection silver sequined V-neck column gown.

SAMIRA NASR

Harper’s Bazaar Editor-in-Chief Samira Nasr stepped out in a hand-embroidered sequin tulle bodysuit and sequin-trimmed double crepe sablé trousers, worn with a black sequined chiffon cape and a silk charmeuse fringed scarf, all from Michael Kors Collection.
